Learn more about The Spruce Crafts' Editorial Process ... With apologies to the portability of the jigsaw, the band saw is widely considered the best choice for making curved cuts in wood.A blade that is too wide for the desired cut will not make a tight enough cut, while a blade that is too narrow may break too easily as you navigate curves. As a reference for choosing the right blade, use the following guidelines: ... You can change a band saw blade and tension it properly in a couple of minutes.Once you've changed the blade, adjusted the tension, and set the tracking properly, you can prepare to cut your curves. Begin by verifying that the band saw's table is square to the blade by checking the angle between the blade and the table with a combination square (unless, of course, your cut requires the table to be set at a specific angle).Turn on the band saw and position the pencil line parallel to the blade at the point where the blade should enter the wood. To make the cut, hold the board flat on the table and ease the board through the moving blade. Do not force the wood, but ease it through with slow steady pressure, allowing the blade to do all of the work.

I am convinced by the Michael Fortune approach to band saw setup, but cannot quite get where I want to go. The saw is a 14″ Rockwell (Delta) with the riser. I shimmed a wheel to get them coplanar and then used Fortune’s approach; that is, set the fence parallel to the guide slot and then adjusting the entire table until the trailing edge of the blade is centered in the kerf, and the cut runs parallel to the fence. The thickness changes by 0.015 or thereabouts from the start to a point an inch or 2 into the cut and the surface is not quite flat. For most things, that’s quite good enough, but there are times when better would be better. I’m hoping Mr. Fortune reads these posts, but am happy to hear from other experts, too. Thanks. ... I had purchased a brand new Laguna 14/12 bandsaw and Laguna blade.I could not get the saw to cut a straight line. After calling Laguna and discussing my issue, the guy stated that occasionally the blades can be bad as in not set properly and he offered to send me a new blade. The new blade arrived and I put it on the saw and the problem was solved. Maybe the blade is the problem. ... This is the best advice you will find for setting up a bandsaw. So I backed it and the rear of the blade started touching the right side of the kerf, by bringing it forward the rear moved left back in line with the cut. ... You center the deep part of the gullet on the upper wheel, not the blade. ... No, if I do that, there will be 1/2 inches of blade past the rear of the tire and my guides can’t go that far. ... Agree with 27B_6. A few years ago I saw the video you posted a link to and followed Alex’s method and my bandsaw is a pleasure to use.

For me there's: Aqueous Transmission by incubus, photograph by Weezer, and I go to the barn because I like the by Band Of Horses. I knows there's more genres out there and I like them all and I feel like the deep cuts give more indication of a band as a whole than the hits.Great bandmate Mr. Rose... ... Every time we hear this song, my wife tells me this like I didn’t know this before we met and that she had never mentioned it before. Like clockwork. We giggle about it now. ... Is that considered a deep cut?Posted by u/juansssss - 503 votes and 1,164 commentsOK this will be kinda odd. might not be what is considered "popular" but in quebec there is a band called "beau dommage" that was active between the 70s and late 90s and it's basically your classic radio city pop band that everyone knows their hits. very light poppy band with 3 minute long catchy radio songs.

Is it more beneficial to a signed and established band to buy their merch online instead of the venue? Or do they get an even smaller cut and a larger cut goes to the label? Even if they only made 1% more I think it’s worth it to protest this shitty standard.
Please anyone with knowledge and especially anyone in touring bands feel free to comment. Keen to take another step towards eradicating this bs and put more money into the pockets of the people that are actually putting their lives into making it all happen. Share ... Regardless of the cut, buying merch from the band at a show is the most direct way you can support them. That does make it difficult to get money into the hands of the band then. Difficult to know who is getting what cut without asking for each situation… The rest of what I said still applies, though. In that case definitely buy stuff at the show!Buy music via bandcamp, buy merch in the most direct way possible (ie. if they have a direct website rather than through a store that sells a lot of different merch, or again - just at a show regardless of shitty venue cuts). It's a great platform and provides bands who aren't big enough for a certain level of distribution with the ability to put themselves out there and those that are with a chance to sell their wares while keeping a greater cut than if done so via Amazon, so buying outside of those dedicated days to support bandcamp's existence is important too.
The Band released many songs considered bona fide classics. These five standout songs, however, might have fallen below the radar.
You might make the case that practically every song released by The Band deserves more love. After all, there’s never been a group more revered within the rock community whose work never bothered the pop charts. But we’re assuming at least a working knowledge of the biggest moments of The Band’s catalog for this article. This song showed up on The Basement Tapes album in 1975. But it wasn’t recorded with Bob Dylan during those legendary sessions at Big Pink in Woodstock. Robbie Robertson included several Band songs on that double album that were very much in the spirit of the informal work they had done with Dylan.Northern Lights-Southern Cross represented The Band’s first album of new original material in four years. By the time it was released, it seemed like much of the rock community had moved on to other things. They missed out on a standout album that can hang with any of their classic first three records. The Band threw all their energy into preparing for The Last Waltz, rehearsing the music of all the wildly disparate performers scheduled to appear at the show. But they had other fish to fry as well. They still owed their record company a new studio album. Luckily, they had enough songs from sessions for previous albums that were at least partially recorded and still unreleased.
